One of the strange inquiries in theology is why did God send His son when he did.? It is assumed that God desired to save the World and to maximize the message that His son brought salvation if you simply believed in Him ( John 3:16). If so, why 1990 years ago , when there was virtually no recorded history.
If God had waited just 1960 years and after, there was not only writing but there was radio, television,I phones and satellites!! But in year 33 we had nothing. Not even writings from Jesus Himself.!! John was an eye witness and he did write 50 years later or someone else wrote for him. Bartholomew wrote but they didn't include his non hearsay writings in the Bible assembled in circa 325 AD by the Council of Laodicea.
We do have a 90% hearsay book that would never be allowed into evidence in any civilized court. The New Testament with the possible exception of John ( not first second or third) and Paul, was written decades if not generations after Christ by people that never saw Him or talked with Him. These hearsay renditions were handed down over the campfires for as much as 100 years before they were written down.
But back to the issue at hand-- Why not wait until the entire world could actually see Christ risen? For that matter, why did Christ risen not go to the Jerusalem Temple after he rose? ? Why did he not go to the Sanhedrin that killed Him? Why did he not go to Golgotha and preach to thousands for 3 days ? Why did He not call out Pilot in the court yard and humiliate him in public? The risen Jesus had no fear of anything physical-- did He? Instead He goes to the upper room passing through the closed door? He secretly meets with His disciples ? He talks to the two women? He talked to one other guy on the road to Emmaus? .
Is this God's plan to save the world? It seems like it was the wrong time. Would God have not been able to make a much stronger case?
There are 7.3 billion people on the Earth. There are an estimate of 1 billion Christians on the earth now. Why are there not 7 billion Christians on the Earth since" God so loved the world" that he gave His SON ?
About 6 billion have died on Earth and 800,000 to 1 billion have gone on to "heaven" if they accepted Jesus as the Son of God. ( "many rooms" ,in deed) . But why is it not 90% of humanity? If Jesus had even appeared to those that murdered him -- it sweeps the world. If he drops Pilot to his knees , it changes the world. If He stands where His cross was and proclaims Salvation for all that believe-- we have a new world but he secretly appears to His disciples in the upper room ? The Roman guards are asleep? What if the Roman guards are awake and beheld the risen Jesus?
Some will rationalize that God wants us to have Faith? Why? Is it a test ? He wants 6 billion on Earth to go to oblivion (Hades)? That makes no sense at all . With the resurrection confirmed he had a chance to save 90% of humanity -- not just a hand full. It makes no sense.
Or does it? God tests us to believe by faith. If we have absoluteness in evidence that is outside His plan, that would be too easy . He wanted a time when we have to accept Christ by faith. He knew many would fail this requirement and try to obtain salvation by their performance. God did what He did because He did it. God made two appearances in his manifestation . One was at creation to design the DNA of all living things . And the second time was to save mankind through His Son.The rest of the time, you are on your own.
